That would be a no

Was just alerted to the Profootballtalk.com report that suggests if QB Brett Favre comes back, he'd want to play for the Panthers.

That's not happening, and it's not because Favre doesn't want to come here.

For starters, the Panthers have a starter they like just fine in Jake Delhomme. And while the world seems to think his arm's going to fly off like a scene from Monty Python, he's actually ahead of schedule coming back from last year's elbow surgery.

Also, the Panthers think far more highly of Matt Moore than most, which should have been obvious when they didn't sign a veteran free agent or draft one.

They're not going to comment on this one, and they shouldn't.

Because there's absolutely nothing to it.

I want to

I want to believe............no not really

Favre is NOT done, did you see him play lasted year? If Brady doesnt have the best QB year ever, maybe Favre wins another MVP.

Age is a issue, along with his HUGE ego/attention whorism. But QBs have shown proven play at 38 and older. Duck tape works well for the other.

But this is just another Chad Johnson pipe dream.

To Be Closer To CofC ???

Favre's oldest daughter is a rising sophomore at the College of Charleston. If he wants to play again, the Panthers would be an intriguing choice given that Charleston is an easy drive to and from Charlotte.

That, and another big part

That, and another big part of his reasoning for wanting to change teams is just to be closer to home in Mississippi, which is why Atlanta's also been mentioned.

Favre is done.

Favre is done.

Clearly...

And a Vikings fan is definitely the most credible source on the matter. The guy had a relatively mediocre team one score away from the super bowl last year.

My thoughts...

I'll admit I thought about Favre in Carolina the first time these comeback rumors started going around a few months ago, but only in one circumstance: because I doubt he'd be willing to come on as a backup and because Jake deserves the job, I'd only get Favre if Jake had already gone down with an injury. Moore and Basanez are good backups who could step in for a game or two, but if [God forbid] Jake suffers another season-ending injury, neither are ready to lead the team to postseason success as Delhomme or Favre could. The economics of the situation could also prove difficult.
