That was fast!Submitted by Shannon_Greene on Thu, 2007-10-04 21:11. Shannon Greene's "Survivor" BlogLeslie's stint on Survivor is over. In a 6-2 vote, our Tega Cay Survivor became the third castaway voted off Survivor: China. Blog to be continued... That is for sureSubmitted by mnypaver on Fri, 2007-10-05 09:25.
I feel like I let you down Shannon. The source that I passed on to you had her gone next week, not this week. The "list" I had passed to me had her being the first off her tribe, but with the other tribe losing one more first. Guess that will teach me to peek ahead... Where did she go wrong?Submitted by Anonymous on Fri, 2007-10-05 00:37.
How could someone that watches Survivor every season have so little ability to play Survivor? Leslie should have known that the very worst thing you can do in this game is give your tribe reason to believe that you are going to allign with the other side at the merge/swap/whatever. She not only said that the other tribe was fun to be with, she proceeded to list off the good Christians like she was listing her intended future alliance members. James was 100% correct when he stated that Leslie was untrustworthy. There was no way that her tribe could trust her to stay with them as a voting block when the merge/swap/whatever occurred. As a fan of the show, I find it very annoying to see people play this game so poorly as Leslie played. Not fair!Submitted by Eli2toomer on Thu, 2007-10-04 22:04.
Life's not fair, but Leslie was a good contestant and would have been interesting to follow for at least a few weeks longer. Sadly, I think she was too different, which is weird to say in the context of living in York County, S.C., but to the wider world...it's sad and short sighted by her tribe. Anyway, she handled it with class and grace, of course, and like she said, no regrets. Go Leslie, you rock. where did she go wrong?Submitted by Shannon_Greene on Thu, 2007-10-04 21:40.
Well, let me first say never trust the spoilers. I was feeling pretty comfortable watching Survivor tonight because inside sources said Leslie wasn't in danger. I had the same info last week and it was right. So my jaw completely dropped when I saw her name come up so many times during tribal council. Well, technically it was three Leslies, two "Moms" and a "Sister Christian." I'm not ready for her to be gone, and I'm sure she wasn't. Where did she go wrong? Why didn’t they vote off that 70-pound runt Courtney who couldn’t cut a rope? Let me back up. For those who missed it, here’s a quick recap of tonight's episode: The show started at night, with Jean-Roberts tossing and turning. Apparently he felt the need to snuggle with the two cute chicks because he needed warmth. Um, wouldn’t Denise, the cafeteria lady have provided more body heat? Ironically, Leslie made the comment that Jean-Roberts doesn’t have the social game and will be first to go. Then it showed the tribe bickering a bit over whether or not to make crab stock from the one crab they caught or just cook it and eat it. Leslie said it reminded her of her hungry husband. “When my husband’s hungry, I make sure he gets fed.” The tribe, overall, wasn’t looking too hot tonight. Thy lost both the reward and immunity challenge. They were both very physical challenges and Leslie didn’t look too great in the one she participated in. It’s clear she didn’t have the same strength as she had in the giant soccer ball challenge last week. After the reward challenge, Leslie was kidnapped to go back with the other tribe. Apparently she had so much fun bonding with the other Christians over there – and then felt the need to come back and tell her tribe that – that her tribe felt threatened. They thought she may jump ship and join the others after a merge. As Aaron said, people try to find the ties that bind… Leslie also let it slip that she told the others who Fei Long’s leader is (Aaron), also putting a target on Aaron’s back. Aaron then told the others Leslie doesn’t think. She says what’s on her heart, not her brain, he said. Then James said he couldn’t trust Leslie. What’s up with that? If I were playing Survivor, I’d want to be close to the Christian just because of the trust factor. I’d trust a Christian’s loyalty any day over Jean-Roberts the poker player. So it boiled down to this: They needed to vote off a weak person and Leslie was weak. It could have been Courtney (who Jean Roberts said had less meat on her bones than an anorexic) but at least she wasn’t a liability in case of the merge. So they chose Leslie (who apparently had been given the new nickname, Sister Christian). Others called her mom, but as Aaron said when he wrote her name down, "Sorry mother hen, all your chicks in China are grown up." Other than the tribal council shock, tonight’s episode was actually pretty good. There was the naked Dave thing (he promised to keep his pants on around Leslie) and the USC student got a clue to a second hidden immunity idol thanks to Leslie. But I’m sad to see Leslie go. She was funny and she seemed to be one of the “real” people on the show, almost to a fault. Yes, there was the stereotyping and the over-the-top religious talk (probably thanks to some editing). But she went after her dream. She got to see a beautiful part of the world and experience something very few people ever do. I couldn't be more happy for her! Now maybe she'll finally be able to talk more about her experience! |

Not good. Not good at all.
Say what you will about Leslie the person -- and I think she came across as very genuine on the show, even if going more-than-a-bit overboad on the religion stuff -- but she was a TERRIBLE Survivor player.
Leslie applied 11 times to be on the show, but seeing how poorly she played, I'm wondering how often she's actually watched it. If Survivor: Amazon's Rob Cesternino, the ultimate Survivor strategist, was watching, I bet some of the things Leslie did made his head explode.
You DO NOT load up the opposing tribe with information about your tribe and then go on to tell your tribe that you did it!
