Liza and I saw "The Dark Knight" Sunday night. Yeah, we waited a week to avoid the crowds, as we have a certain place in the theater we like to sit and I can't stand having people sitting on top of me.
Wow! It was everything it's hyped to be. Heath Ledger is phenomenal. That's all there is to it. He makes the sociopsychopathic Joker into the most likable villain ever. You want to bring the boy home, even though you know you'd end up dead in the morning. Remember that Ted Bundy had to be adorable for women to pick him up.
Anyway, Aaron Eckhart? Wow! A fantabulous Harvey Dent and that has to be the best interpretation of Two Face. Ew. Is he dead? Hmm. I think not. Can anyone say Arkham?
Rivaling Heath is Gary Oldman. That man gets better every year. And playing a good guy, no less.
Cameos. Let's talk cool. Anthony Michael Hall makes a wicked newscaster. Somebody gag him, but he was great. Cillian Murphy back as Scarecrow. Make me laugh, boy, with that grin. So wild. Eric Roberts ... who makes a better Tony Soprano wannabe than one of the old-time nasties. Did anyone notice Keith Szarabajka? Raise your hand if you remember drooling over Mickey Kostmayer.
In the plus department, Maggie Gyllenhaal is infinitely better than Katie Holmes as Rachel, but I'm not sorry she bought it. Superheroes don't need silly girlfriends.
However, and close your eyes if you're intent on loving Christian Bale ... the boy phoned that performance in. Of course, with such a supreme supporting cast, he was gonna take a backseat anyway.
Almost better than the movie was getting to see the "Watchmen" trailer on a big screen. Can't wait till March.

Uhhh, ever heard of a spoiler alert?
Thanks a bunch. I was going to see it this weekend.
