Is there anyone out there thats cares if we test our fowl.I've talk to hundreds of people noone cares.They say the fine is obscene.Why is this illegal.Get it out of the way so they can concentrate on true crimes and issues.Goerge Washington and Thomas Jefferson both tested game fowl.Our fore'fathers who created the greatest country on earth.I'll let there record speak for it's self they were'nt wrong about much.

To whom it may concern, Sunday Feb 24th, I was ticketed for gamefowl testing on Mcneely St., Liberty, S.C. The fine is 1000.00 dollars and since my lovely wife was also present, it is now 2000.00 dollars that I have to pay. Being an upstanding, working citizen, voter and tax payer of South Carolina, I am fortunate enough to have the money to pay the fine; which is ridiculus. We are very upset that our community would treat us this way. Those of you that have a negative viewpoint about us, stop and think; what do you actually know about a gamecock? The only way to know why they fight is to raise them. So how do you judge me on something you know nothing about? If my boys die in battle I can handle it because thats what they live to do. Lord, forbid these laws continue and I have to cull my whole flock, my heart will bleed and my wife will be devastated. I tell them every day, Im being pushed to cull them. But every time I look in their proud eyes, they win me back over. I would like to point out, that those there testing their fowl may not have the financial means to pay the extreme fines imposed. I think of children that may go without food or be just a little cooler throughout the day, to save on the power bill. This could also damage marriages in a very bad way. Young people with little money who are facing these fines. If you ask God what's more important, to stop gamefowl testing or the children and the bond of marriage effected by these fines, surely you would answer, the children and marriage. Let's all pray for those put in a very stressful situation. Christ said 'let him without sin cast the first stone'. In this case, someone heard the birds crowing, convicted us, and cast that stone with no idea where it would land. WE LOVE OUR BIRDS. The best quote I have heard to explain cockfighting is "from the inside looking out you can't explain it, and from the outside looking in you can never understand it". If I felt cockfighting is a true concern of the citizens of South Carolina I will release my birds into the wild and leave the issue alone. What most people fail to realize is that the Humane Society Of The United States is the one pushing the issue. This is not your local humane society that takes care of abandoned animals, they are a multimillion dollar fund raising organization that does very little to help animals. This is about freedom of choice. If the government is against gambling, why can I walk into a store seven days a week and buy lottery tickets? If the state is against violence, Why did the senate just pass a bill that allows ultimate and cage fighting between humans? I have never heard of two children fighting" like with wrestling" say "I am fighting like a gamecock". The HSUS always says cockfighting attracts drug and gun dealers. I have been to many cockfights in many different states and have never seen any of the described crimes. Last week the cockfighters offered separate but more severe fines and punishment for anyone caught at a cockfight with guns or drugs, but that offer was not even entertained, because it is not true. Hundreds of people have been arrested in the country for cockfighting, yet I have not seen proof of these allegations that the two go hand in hand. Most people who know a cockfighter objects the new law because they know we are not the scum of society we are portrayed as . I work, I pay taxes and I have served my country as a United States Marine to ensure we have the freedom to choose what we decide are just laws that are by and for the people. This is not about cockfighting at all, this is about freedom and special interest groups pushing politions to change laws for their benefit. Go to the HSUS website and see exactly what lies next after cockfighting. Do you enjoy hunting? Do you enjoy fishing? Do you enjoy a trip to the zoo or circus? How about rodoes?If so do not think the HSUS does not have you in their sites. Do me a favor and educate yourself on why this bill is being pushed, and who is doing the pushing. Propaganda is a powerful tool, but make sure the information you are basing your opinion off of is true. I have two dogs and about 150 birds that I take care of. I make sure they always have fresh clean water,food,vaccinations and medications to ensure they are as well taken care of as I can. I do allow the gamecocks to fight, because it is in their nature. I respect them for their ability to fight as I do a boxer and a cage fighter. So do I make them fight? No. Am I a drug dealer?NO. Am I a gun dealer? NO. Do I deserve to be a felon unable to vote,serve my country,or own a firearm for my decision to own and allow my birds to do battle?NO .I am just another person from a rural setting living my life as my father, and his father before him .
