OTA Day 9, Of arms and legs

-- Seriously, I'm not sure if it's that the hot weather enables him to loosen up more, or whether his arm's stronger than it was before. But QB Jake Delhomme has as much zing on the ball as ever, if not more. He's progressed to the point that if he's on a pitch count at all, it's impossible to tell. If you never knew he had Tommy John surgery seven months ago, you wouldn't know it from watching him practice today.

-- They're quite serious about keeping three kickers, so they don't give up so much field position on kickoffs this year. Rhys Lloyd, who had a late-December audition last year, has an excellent chance of hanging around for a full go.

They've acknowledged that kickoffs were a problem, even though they'd rather not burn a 53-man roster spot on a guy who does one thing. When asked about Lloyd and the dynamics of putting together a team, coach John Fox said: "He's an option. If that makes us better, that's who we keep."

-- Heard this morning that it's supposed to be "down to" 90 tomorrow. That'd be nice. If it doesn't cool off soon, I'll be "down to" 200 before I get to training camp.
