-- So the knee swelling that kept WR D.J. Hackett off the field the last two days was apparently minor, since he was back out there today. He said he just took a few days to make sure it didn't get worse, icing it down.
Of course, the temperature keeps ramping up out here, so ice isn't the worst idea. If they're trying to gradually get these guys ready for Spartanburg, they're getting cooperation from the weather.
-- Don't turn your back on QB Jake Delhomme, ever. The guy can't leave well enough alone, constantly picking at people, the more juvenile, the better. Wednesday's victim was safeties coach Mike Gillhamer, when Delhomme got him with the old step-on-the-back-of-your shoe routine. The coach came completely out of his shoe with that one, while Delhomme walked off giggling.
The quarterback's the leader on the field, but Delhomme might be the king of the pranksters here as well.
-- Don't think for a minute the Panthers aren't serious about keeping someone for kickoff duty alone. Both K Rhys Lloyd and rookie P Dan Zeidman have worked on it, and have plenty of leg.

Moore/Basanez - Procton logic is flawed.
Moore started 3 more games than Basanez. Ran up about an 81-point rating or something close to it in those 3 games. When you say Moore is "totally unproven", he is no more "totally unproven" than Basanez.
I know the argument about Moore playing late in the season against back-ups, but he plays against pros whether they be 2nd string or not, he plays against professional defensive coordinators and teams that want to win.
Your argument has little foundation in the facts. For both back up QBs, the sampling of pro games is small (Basanez=non-existent). But Moore showed some poise in his rookie outing. When you say "totally unproven" you must have been watching some other team.
Rookie, yes; totally unproven, no.
