Did you read this?
Taking a page from the John Edwards playbook by saying exactly what you think the crowd wants to hear. I think this is where the inexperience plays out.
Do I really want a President that is thinking about New Orleans every night when he goes to bed and every morning when he wakes up?
I mean, New Orleans is a cool city, but there are still 300 million other Americans that might want a little consideration.
Besides that, I am not sure how much of my tax money I want to go rebuilding a city that is basically below water. Only man-made walls and pumps keep the city dry when it ain't raining. You add a little hurricane to the equation and you got a problem.
So, pander away to your audience, but be aware that there is an entire nation listening and wondering if you can keep us safe from terrorism and keep our economy moving in a positive direction.

Obama and the American People...
Having a President who is aware about one of the biggest disasters and Federal blunders on his mind prior to going to bed is probably a good thing. America failed New Orleans, plain and simple. If you are aware of your failures, you can do do what you can to make sure they don't repeat.
Speaking of failures, according to the GAO report, Iraq has not met 15 of the 18 benchmarks required of them. At the time of this writing, 3739 American troops have died. I am hoping someone in the White House is thinking about this before they go to bed.
