The Panthers wrapped up the final practice of minicamp Sunday morning, and everything seemed positive.
In fact, the only bobbles on the day seemed to be when QB Matt Moore plunked RG Keydrick Vincent and DT Maake Kemoeatu on the head with passes in a 10-minute span during walk-throughs.
For the good:
-- QB Jake Delhomme threw again, and might actually do some team drills at OTAs a month from now.
-- Kickoffs were going through the end zone, courtesy Rhys Lloyd, who has them scratching their heads figuring out how to keep him on the 53-man roster.
-- Plays keep getting made in the passing game, courtesy WR Steve Smith, with reserves Dwayne Jarrett and Jason Carter contributing plenty as well. Know this about Carter, he's a cut above previous camp phenoms such as Taye Biddle, Jim Turner, and reaching way back, Donnell Baker. He can play.
-- The O-line appears ready to run. And the backs seem suited for it. We won't know for sure until the pads get on in August, but from the looks of things, they at least have the personality for it.
Don't forget about Nick Goings, who always finds a way to hang around, despite the fact there are four of five guys at his spot who are more explosive.
-- The safety depth is there, for a change. If Nate Salley stays well, he's on the team.
And just because I can't leave a sunny day alone, here's a few black clouds.
-- The D-line is painfully thin, especially at the ends. I'm interested to see Tyler Brayton in pads, because out here in shorts, he looks long and rangy, with lots of body for opposing blockers to get into.
-- There doesn't appear to be that Jarrett Bush-type developmental corner in the pipeline. They better hope Ricardo Colcough can play.
-- Those who always fall in love with the fourth QB will have to wait. Taylor Tharp doesn't have a big arm, and isn't likely to create a movement.

Jarrett
I'd like to see us trade Jarrett, frankly. Maybe we can get the 2nd rounder back that we used on him. Everything he's done so far shouts "Loser".
