I don't mind the idea of new yard debris bins. I just hope the city will let all of us split the $50 in two separate payments on two monthly city bills. Years ago, the city let me do that for a trash bin. I don't know if they still allow that or not.
Some of my trees drop a few limbs each week and it's not enough to even get noticed when the city comes by on my pick up day. So, I have to find somewhere to pile them until it's enough to put at the side of the yard. There is no sidewalk or curb where I live due to this is a "state maintained" street in the middle of RH city limits, how the heck that works.
A bin would be nice to keep behind the house to put minimal yard waste over the week, and them after some period of weeks, I would put it out on our pick up day.
The only thing that concerns me is the "Spring" season , when I like everyone else do yard trimming and cutting back or what ever of various tree limbs and so forth. If this past spring of 2008 is any example, then I would have needed approx 6 yard debris bins for about 4 weeks. You do the math on $$$$.
As far as grass clipping go, they shouldn't be put on the side of the street, PERIOD. I used to have a lawnmower that had a bag to collect the grass. AND, I would dump the grass behind my azalias and other plants around the yard. You might be surprised how fast it decomposes. AND now, where I dumped the grass, I have the richest dirt imaginable. Anything you grow absorbs nutrients from the ground. If you dump your grass on the curb, then you are throwing away your yard's nutrients. Why do you think farmers dump manure on their fields??
