My Favorite Democrat Thus Far

has got to be Joe Biden.

Now, before you check the thermometer in Hades, I am not switching sides, but you got to like this guy's candor and knowledge. May not actually agree with him on much, but I got to like his style.

What I do agree with him on is his comments regarding troop withdrawal. Whereas most other candidates are pandering to the polls and calling for immediate withdrawal, at least Biden has the nads to say that a safe withdrawal would take a year - probably more. He even pointed out it took 8 months last time we were in Iraq and we never made it to Baghdad.

What this election needs is more straight talk and less pandering to the polls and to the special interests which fund the campaigns. You want to oppose this war. OK. You want to pull out the troops. OK. But come up with a realistic plan of how to do that safely and also address the issues that will come up in the middle east as a result of our pull-out.

Seems like the media likes to play one side of this record - too many Americans dying / Bush lied/ etc.....

What is not discussed in realistic terms is how to pull out and how to address the very real likelihood of chaos in the Middle East as a result.

But, that's too hard. Let's keep calling on our government to stop funding the troops - maybe they can hitch their way home. Or heck, maybe they can be illegal immigrants over their and get free healthcare.

Anyway, my kudos to Joe Biden for at least saying what he feels. For example, the question to say something nice about the person to the left, Biden said "I don't like a damn thing about him. I -- no, I'm only kidding. Only kidding. Dennis and I have been friends for 25 years. I think this is a ridiculous exercise."

Obama and Hillary just liked everyone and Edwards did not like Hillary's coat. I remember an episode of "Friends" years ago where people thought Chandler was gay because he kept making "gay" comments. I'm not saying - I'm just saying.

Anyway, Joe Biden gets my vote for "Best Democrat of the Week".

Congratulations.

Who is your favorite Republican?

And as far as the Democrats go...you know and I know that it is going to be a Clinton/Obama ticket...that will cover just about everyone.

I don't like any of the choices we have been offered thus far from either party.

I believe I am going to write in Al Gore cause I still like him and believe he would be a good president and an honest one to boot. Jimmy Carter was the last honest president we had and a real Christian. No body liked poor Jimmy...wonder why?

Fave Republican

Right now, I'd have to say Guilliani is the prettiest of the Ugly sisters.

Not inspired by any one on either side.

I'll have to say I am intrigued by the possibility of Thompson entering the race, but I have a feeling they'll be some ugly with the good.

Clinton/Obama would be a tough ticket to beat. Clinton will have to decide if she wants to win or if she wants a VP that won't over-shadow her.

I'll say the Al Gore of the early 1980's was better than the one we've ended up with today. Maybe some of that honesty and good intentions just get beaten away from years in Washington. I put Gore and Edwards in the same box - say anything to anyone to push forward your agenda. Of course, that isn't much different than any other politician.

I guess what I am looking for is someone being real. That's why I said what I did about Biden. May not like everything he believes in, but at least he's being himself.

Nobody liked Carter because he was an ineffective leader and he was the victim of a very bad decade economically. Good man / bad President.

Don't see much hope of change until we stand up and demand accountability - and yes, that applies to Bush/Cheney/Rove. Do I think someone in that group has done something illegal. Oh yeah, most probably Rove. But in our legal system, the presumption is of innocence until proven guilty. All of the "Impeachment Crowd" should bring forth evidence of an illegal act.

The fact that WMD's did not exist does not prove that Bush lied. It proves that Bush was given faulty intelligence.

If the weatherman says it's going to rain tomorrow, and you tell your spouse it's going to rain tomorrow and it does not rain - does that make you a liar? No, it does not.

Again, if real evidence exists that the President or anyone else deliberately misled this nation into war, where is it? And if it does exist and someone misled the country into war (although I think getting rid of Saddam was a good thing), then that person(s) should be held accountable, no matter what their position in government.

Is that reasonable enough for you?
