Panthers coach John Fox called the players up to end their final walk-through at Wofford College at 10:46 a.m.

At 10:54 a.m., the first of the fleet of luxury sedans and SUVs were heading out.

We all get to go home now.

Fox said most of the injured players who've missed time this week with stay home rather than fly to Philadelphia, with the exception of DE Hilee Taylor (illness).

That means WRs Steve Smith, D.J. Hackett, Ryne Robinson and Dwayne Jarrett, TEs Gary Barnidge and Dante Rosario, CBs Ken Lucas and Chris Gamble, SS Chris Harris and DT Ian Scott will not join them on the road.

In fact, Smith (concussion) was able to slide out of town early, since he wasn't participating in the walk-through.

Fox said RB Jonathan Stewart might play Thursday night, and that QB Jake Delhomme will take most of the wok with the ones, rather than passing off to Matt Moore as he did last week.

Way to go Darin...

I normally love the coverage...but really? Deciding to skip out on this preseason game? Especially considering that this one is supposed to be so significant considering last year's performance/importance. I hope hope you had something REALLY important to do since you get paid to covered this team.

Where are you Darin?

No updates or articles from the game?

Any thoughts, though?

Doesn't cost McClatchy anything to let you watch...and in SPARKLING HD at that... ;)

Mr. Gantt,

I can't imagine anyone who reads your articles not knowing by now that you truely dislike Steve Smith and plan on throwing his latest outburst of violence in his face for as long as you can. Think what you want about Smith, but only a low life punk would do such a thing, maybe you need counseling too. Remember, pride goeth before a fall. You may be riding high today, but someday that might not be so, I wonder if you'll deserve forgiveness for your transgressions. To put it simply, check your hate! You have now crssed that line where you are making yourself look like the person with the problem.

Funny

We've always had a courteous, professional relationship with Steve. Doing what I do for a living, you learn to take nothing personally, good or bad. I don't "hate" him for doing whatever he chooses to do, nor do I "love" him when he talks to me at length, like he did just before camp. It's a business.

Even Steve knows his incident was the defining moment of the team's camp, and perhaps his career. That's why he's working so hard to mend fences.

Also, decaf is a good idea for some folks.

Dude

Check your hate!

Xanax, it does a body good.

I read your post. Then I read Darin's. Then I read yours again. Then I paused.

Please call your physician immediately.

Nothing what you have written here has any bearing on the journalists lead post, nor does it make any cognitive sense. You also have two spelling errors to which the spell-check should have already alerted you.

On another more important note: Hooray! Football tonight! And in HD!!!!

Pretty embarrassing...

That the Panthers video staff doesn't produce in HD. Almost every other team does it for the preseason at this point.

HD

Yeah, I was surprised to see the Colts game in 4:3 format. They spend how many millions of dollars on the stadium screen and still can't keep up with HD that many local stations are providing?

Tsk, tsk.

Michaelprocton's picture

What?

There is nothing whatsoever in the above blog that constitutes a single shred of "hate" towards Steve Smith.
