How will the Panthers do this season?Submitted by Anonymous on Sun, 2008-08-10 15:45.Moose and DJs?Submitted by John_Nielsen on Sun, 2008-08-17 15:14.
Moose is nursing sore ribs, Hackett has nagging toe injury and has a history of being hurt. Jarrett ... definitely not impressing anyone so far. They might be ready, they might play ... I just doubt they'll make enough plays. As I said, I hope they prove me wrong. I just don't have a good feeling about it Jake is most defintely THE key...but Peppers matters too.Submitted by sgross1152 on Wed, 2008-08-13 18:43.
We'll soon see if Saturday was a pure aberration, or if Pep's really plays as well as we hope. I know Procton dissects his career numbers, but if he can grab 10+ sacks, that's a big damn deal. Even if he's only "disruptive" like he "used" to be and doesn't get those, Thomas Davis at the Will is suddenly in play. I think it's within the realm of possibility that Pep may not get double-digit sacks. HOWEVER, I think that Davis will benefit from the move as well, and that's a pretty interesting possibility to consider in all of this. To be honest, I think their COMBINED sacks will be what we have to watch. IF...like there isn't always that little word in everything NFL...IF Julius Peppers is Julius Peppers, The whole D gets better, and the O will benefit just like Saturday. 10, in and of itself, won't do itSubmitted by Michaelprocton on Thu, 2008-08-14 08:16.
If he gets 10 sacks, he needs to get them in 8-10 games, not his typical 5 with several 3-sack games against a backup scrub in a game we won by 20. It's all about Delhomme...Submitted by Michaelprocton on Mon, 2008-08-11 00:00.
If he plays in at least 14 or so games, there's no chance we don't make the playoffs. |

Figure an 0-2 start with no
Figure an 0-2 start with no Steve Smith, and figure at least a 9-7 record to make the playoffs. so, they have to win 9 of their last 14 -- and even that might not be enough.
Realistically, it looks like an 8-8 season to me. I hope they prove me wrong.
