This is a strange post. #1 I live in Rock Hill, am a fan of the York Cougars but am a manager at Sagebrush Steakhouse in Rock Hill. I had to help out at the Sagebrush in Gaffney today and it was aweful. They went all up in me about Gaffney beating the Bearcats (who I could care less about). All day long, employees were saying how all RH teams sucked and that York was even worse.
I had to work the Tribe Talk Live at Sagebrush tonight. It was crazy with the 25 cent wings. The place was packed. One of the events of Tribe Talk is getting one of the managers to talk live on the radio. I was asked to be the special guest speaker tonight but I declined because of what I had experienced all day long. We had one other manager working with me today and he lives in RH as well. It was a tough day. Yes it was all in good clean fun but it did piss me off a little the way they were bragging and especially the things that was said about York.
I am scheduled to be back there next Tuesday as well. I just might accept the invitation to talk live on the radio.
Man Gaffney has got a lot of kids on that team. But let me say that Coach Strickland is a class act.

Gaffney fans
There's no doubt Gaffney fans are passionate about football. The first football game I ever went to when I moved down here in 1978 was in Gaffney when they hosted Northwestern. Gaffney destroyed them 37-7, I think, and there were fans waiting by Northwestern's bus to taunt Trojans players.
I know some fans around here remembers the infamous tear-gas incident at Gaffney in the 1980s. That was all over the news for awhile.
But maniacal fans are the norm any football-crazy town. You've got your good eggs and your bad seeds. Unfortunately, the bad seeds make the most racket. Gaffney's always a tough place to play, but you can't indict the entire fan base for the actions of a few.
Coach Strickland has done a great job maintaining the program and putting his mark on it. Some Gaffney fans were probably skeptical at first on how well he would do. But when you have a one high-school town with a rich football tradition, there isn't going to be much dropoff.
