Breaking News

Since I could not find an appropriate person to address, I guess you are stuck with my question.

Why does the herald online NOT offer up to the minute local headlines, such as traffic accidents, or law enforcement/fire events?

As of this posting the latest updat was 12:22 AM, certainly, locally SOMETHING has transpired.

Thank you

What A Loser !

Frankly, I thought the jury made a serious error in judgement in cutting McKown loose the last time he was in hot water. The events of the last week have certainly reinforced that opinion.

Doug McKown has a bright future ahead of him. I can see him now: the most powerful man in his cellblock!

McKown

I am glad to know that Dougie has finally figured out that he is not perfect. However, he would have never admitted this had he not been caught in all of these illegal activities. I am a healthcare professional. And, on many occasions, I have witnessed McKown's arrogant behavior. When he walked into Piedmont Medical Center (if he was working a case), he acted as if everyone should stop speaking, turn, and salute him. He spoke rudely and very degradingly to the hospital staff. And, he acted like he paid for and owned the morgue. I am so glad he finally got his comeuppance. He spoke of his "legacy" in the article. What a joke! Legacy?? Give me a break! He will be a tarnish on the office of the coroner-that is about it.
I hope they will bring Sabrina Gast back as coroner. We don't need another carbon copy of McKown running the office.

Legacy

He won't have much of a positive legacy. He is very arrogant and believes he is above the law!!! The one and only death call he has taken the past two months since he has been back in office it took him over an hour to get to. He spent time trying to find someone else to take the call.

Sabrina Gast made sure she was present at every or almost every death call. She actually worked for her paycheck and I hope she is brought back in. She will also have mine and my husbands vote at election time!!!

Coroner's Resignation....

Well he finally did something right by stepping down before he could be removed...AGAIN! The self-proclaimed "Most Powerful Man In York County"...as he described himself to an Observer writer, is finally out of office and not a moment too soon! The tax payers own the vehicle, provide the gas, and pay the expenses generated by his so called "mistakes" in office. Don't forget, he's still seeking 2 years of backpay from his first removal and we'll be picking up the tab again for his probation hearing as well. Good Grief Charlie Brown...enough already!!!..give tax payers a break!

Mckown

I am so glad to see that he admitted he did something unworthy of holding a elected position. However as far as I am concerned he did something unworthy last time. I hope the taxpayers will not have to foot the bill for the two years backpay. He should not have demanded his job back in the first place, however that was the only way he could demand two years backpay. Now he should think of removing himself from York County all together. I hope that he has to pay for this "Mistake" at least that is what he want's to call it. He has used tax payers money for his personal financial gains and partying far to long!!!

Agree

Your are 100% right, his quotes in the story are sickening "acknowledging your not perfect" or "my heart wasn't in it" - give me a break!!! In previous articles it stated that he was working at a funeral home in Gastonia, well at least I now know where, I bet the people in Gastonia will have 2nd thoughts about Howell Funeral Home now that the owner was front page news in Gazette yesterday defending himself and Dougie. Two peas in a pod them two, he's innocent also and he has a drug test to prove it, he says (Right!!!). Oh well I for one am glad he will be gone, I just hate we have to wait until August 13th
